Goedhart Family Winery

 

The daughter of Red Mountain pioneers Tom and Anne-marie Hedges met a man as passionate about wine as she was. Together Brent and Sarah Goedhart have staked their claim to the Red Mountain AVA with a Syrah that captures perfectly the essence of terroir.  These two young winemakers left their home state of WA as teenagers and spent their years after college working for Santa Barbara Winery and then Preston Winery in Healdsburg, CA. They have taken numerous classes through UC Davis and Sarah has an Enology certificate degree from Washington State University and Brent has a Viticulture certificate degree from the same school which makes them a perfect winemaking team.

 

That is what makes Goedhart Syrah.  Not only some of the finest fruit from Red Mountain, and not just their superior knowledge and palette, but a lifestyle built around the essence of the old world.

 

Sarah now works as assistant winemaker for her family’s winery, Hedges Family Estate, and Brent stays at home with their16 month old son, Lucas. They both run Goedhart Family, and are very passionate about producing Red Mountain Syrah.

 

Their philosophy is to make one wine, make it well and share it with friends and a good meal.

 

With only two vintages released, Goedhart Family winery is one to watch. And the wine… definitely one to try.  This complex bottle holds a superior richness that this young family has masterfully nurtured into what we are sure will be a highly successful winery for many years to come.
